Water treatment.
Targeted management of environmental impacts.
We manage the environmental impacts of our production processes through specific measures—ranging from waste water and emissions to the handling of materials and waste.
Water Treatment
At both production sites (Linz and Trhové Sviny), we treat process water in our own facilities and return suitable sub-streams back into production. This reduces our additional fresh water requirements.
~50% less fresh water per pair of glasses
Calculated based on the ratio of fresh water to reused, treated production water per pair of glasses.
Monitoring Waste Water
Production waste water at the Linz site, which is located in a water protection area, is continuously monitored. Among other parameters, pH, temperature, and metals are measured online. During lens processing, we also use multiple filtration stages and closed cooling loops to prevent the release of microplastics.
100% of the wastewater is monitored
This figure refers to the production wastewater at the Linz site, which is routed through the monitored wastewater line prior to discharge.
Purify Exhaust Air
Exhaust air containing solvents from production processes is treated by an exhaust air purification system. The emissions are also regularly measured by an external party.
~97% purification efficiency
This figure refers to the purification efficiency of the exhaust air purification system for exhaust air containing solvents.
Managing Waste and Materials
Production waste is collected separately and recycled or disposed of depending on the type of waste. Critical substances are avoided or replaced whenever technically feasible.
0.29 kg of waste per pair of glasses
This metric refers to the documented waste volumes at the Linz and Trhové Sviny production sites in the 2024/25 reporting year.
