Our story starts in 1964, with humble beginnings and visionary promise. In Linz, Austria, a small city on the Danube River, Anneliese and Arnold Schmied wanted to make their idea a reality. Their vision was to create the world’s most beautiful eyewear without ever compromising on quality. This husband-and-wife team took a leap into the unknown when they founded Silhouette. Was the eyewear market ready for their creations? Only time would tell.

Back then, they had no way of knowing that they were on the path to global success. They devoted their full energy into building a brand which, in the decades to come, would capture the hearts of millions of fans all over the world with its Austrian-made glasses.
